It has been a year of planning and change at Melbourne Stem Cell Centre…….

We are finalising the data for our knee case series to be written up by our team of medical experts in early 2019. The early data looks exciting and we will let you know once it has been accepted for publication. To stay up to date with all of Melbourne Stem Cell Centre’s research click here

The Government department, Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) work to secure that all medicines and treatments provided to consumers and both safe and effective. The TGA have regulatory oversight regarding stem cells treatments. Importantly, as of July 2019 there may be some changes to the way that cells need to be stored directly after harvest, and this may affect treatment time frames and laboratory costs may increase. We will provide more detail as it becomes available over the coming months. This will also include an upgrade our partner, Magellan Stem cells Lab to make sure we stay ahead of the best practice guidelines .

Our General Manager and several of our Doctors attended the SMA National conference in Sports Medicine as well as the World Conference of Sports Medicine in Rio to stay abreast of developments in this field and to ensure that MSCC stays at the highest level of current knowledge for Osteoarthritis.

Two of our doctors also conduct osteoarthritis assessments at other clinics in the South Eastern suburbs. If you have back pain and would like to consider stem cell treatment, please contact the clinic and we will arrange an appointment with our back specialist, Dr Dan Bates, who is consulting out of MetroPain Group in Clayton.
If you are located on the Peninsula, or would like to consult with a female doctor, please contact the clinic 03 9270 8000 and we will arrange an appointment with our senior sports medicine physician, Dr Leesa Huguenin, at Box Hill or one of her other practices in Berwick, Frankston or Mornington.

Our allogeneic trial is 6 months in, with recruitment for the 4th cohort underway. We are hoping to have the recruitment finalised by early 2019. Cohorts 1, 2 and 3 have been successfully treated and now undergoing extensive follow up for up to a year.

We have been closed over the holiday period but will be re opening on Monday the 7th of January. The new year presents an opportunity to review and maximise the treatment of your osteoarthritis. Get in early to secure an osteoarthritis assessment with one of our sports medicine physicians. Either call or email the clinic on 03 9270 8000 or info@mscc.com.au.
